If we're Facebook friends, you've probably already seen this but here is the crazy that is my life...
I accidentally had a job interview on Tuesday.
I was at my primary care doctor that morning (not for anything bad...just rechecking my vitamin D and B12 levels) and I was talking to the PA, Lisa, about some issues I had with the front office staff. I mentioned that I recently started working in an urgent care office and seriously, the number one rule (in my opinion) is to NEVER, EVER make promises that you can't keep to a patient. Lisa proceeded to tell me that she knows, and they're desperately trying to hire someone smart to work in the office. I made a smartass comment like, pfffft, hire me...I'll whip this place into shape. She immediately asked for my resume. I laughed. She said she was serious and they could really use someone like me.
She asked me to wait a minute and went and got the doctor who owns the practice, Dr. H. He said that seriously, I should bring my resume by and they're looking to hire someone really soon as they currently have a temp working at checkout.
So....I went home, printed my resume and went to drop it off.
Dr. H saw me walk in (without a stitch of makeup, in jeans and a t-shirt, hair not done) and pulled me aside and said he wanted to do a quick interview right there.
Long story short...he wanted me to start ASAP. A little more money than I'm making - not much, but a little. Steady schedule...9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, paid holidays and vacation. He understands that I have very little medical office experience but was impressed by all of my computer and customer service experience and said he knows I can learn the rest in no time.
So...I'm not usually a job hopper. I've only been at the urgent care place for 2.5 months. But this really seems like the universe telling me something important.
I start part time tomorrow (part time because I gave 2 weeks notice at the urgent care) and go full time on July 9.
