My primary care doctor called me today to go over my lab results from a couple of weeks ago. She's thrilled with most everything (cholesterol, glucose, the improvement in my vitamin D) but the only thing that she was a little concerned with was my vitamin B12 levels. Even though I'm within normal ranges, it's on the very low side of normal (levels should be from 200 to 1100, and mine are about 220) even though I am very good about taking my vitamins.
She prescribed vitamin B12 injections to be given at home. My husband said he will do the injecting since I am a little heebidy-jeebidy about poking myself with a needle. I need to do the injections once every 2 weeks for 2 months and then we'll recheck my levels.
I'll let you know how it goes.

great news on the cholesterol, glucose, etc ! Do keep us updated on B-12 as I'm starting to finally get to the 'vitamin and supplement' portion of our lapband show :)
I've not had B12 shots myself, but I've heard they can make quite a difference to your energy levels (I actually read about them in a wedding magazine as a pre-wedding must-do! WTF!). Hopefully you will feel the difference!
let me know how that does because I think that is the next thing for me!! I don't love shots! Ha! Good news on all the other labs though!! wWhooohiooo
Interesting! I was low on B-12, but I started taking supplements. It will be interesting to see where I fall when I'm retested. Can't wait to hear how it goes!
That's awesome, about the other stuff... not so great about the shots, though! My dad used to get those, and they made a big difference. :)
Let us know how it goes!
Oooh, thanks for sharing about this. Didn't LBG have B12 issues too? or was hers Thiamine or something else? I remember she definately had a deficiency with something. Good luck with the injections. Sorry you have to go through that dear.
My B12 was the only problem I had as well! I started taking tablets today! Good luck with your injections!
I have been on the B12 injections for over a year now I really can tell a difference when I for get them.
