I am going to Zumba at the gym tomorrow morning. I am SCARED. Hearing about how so many of my band sisters love Zumba has encouraged me to try it, but hearing about the soreness and hurting in muscles that you didn't know you had is just a bit frightening. Any last words of advice? I'll make sure I have a protein shake before I go, and a nice big bottle of water for during, and a nice big bottle of Tylenol for after.
I saw a new low on the scale yesterday morning - 244.8. However, after Mexican food with some friends last night, I bounced back up to 245.6 this morning. I am totally cool with that because I'm still down a total of almost 7 pounds this week after my bounce up after last weeks pizza fest.

I would bring a little towel if your gym doesnt' supply them. I forgot the first time and really regretted it! Also don't have the shake to close to going. You might even want to wait until after. I couldn't stand anything swoshing in my stomach, but was starving after. I grabbed a protein bar at desk on my way out.
You will love it! Do bring a towel because if you are anything like me, you will start to sweat after the first song! I have one more week to wait and then I can start back up with Zumba and water aerobics. I have missed them both. Have a blast!
Thank you! I will make sure to bring a towel. I'm afraid that if I don't have a little something in my tummy I'll get lightheaded as I tend to do but I'm baking some Fiber One mini muffins right now so maybe I'll just have one of those awhile before I head to the gym. I can totally see how the protein shake would slosh around so yeah, maybe a bad idea. I'd like to do water aerobics again too - I wish my gym had a pool!
I have to eat something too b/c of blood sugars. I have found a half of banana and string cheese to work great for me. I normally eat it about 30-45 mins before class. I also do a quick 10 min workout on the treadmill to warm up. that way I don't get too sore after. have fun!
I don't know about you, but I loooooooove that sore feeling the next day! It means you WORKED! It means your muscles were craving that workout! If I'm not sore after a kick butt workout, something went wrong! Good luck with the class, let us know how it went! I've been thinking of going myself.
Also, nutritionally speaking, aim for complex carbs before the workout (for fuel) and protein immediately after (for recovery).
You go girl!! Just keep your own pace and don't over do it... I think I over did it yesterday (at boot camp)... and though I normally love a little soreness... my current thigh pain is a little to much! LOL! At least I know I'll be stronger in the end... Have fun. I need to try a Zumba class next!!
I'd take 7 lbs in a week!
